YOUTH TENNIS PROGRAMS

GENERAL INFORMATION

Whether children are beginners, intermediate or advanced players, this program will improve their game and help them get more enjoyment from tennis.  Our tennis lessons focus on skill refinement as well as practice and match play to develop consistent, well-rounded tennis players.

Players learn proper grips, footwork, strokes, volleys, and serves during a series of drills designed to teach skills in a fun and dynamic way.

RED BALL (AGES 5-7)

Beginner or Advanced Beginner Level

Class size is 6 to 8 players per instructor and grouped based on their abilities, experience, and skill levels. Activities are focused on developing the ABCs (agility, balance, and coordination), all while forming the skills necessary to serve, rally, and score.

Introduction to various spins on both Forehand and Backhand strokes and the different grips used. The ability to intentionally place the ball in open spaces is crucial before graduating to the next level. Typically, this is the developmental stage with the greatest duration.

Use of Red Foam and Felt Balls on 36’ Red Court. Offered as 1-hour programs.

ORANGE BALL (AGES 8-10)

Level Beginner or Advanced Beginner Level
Class size is 6 to 8 players per instructor, and grouped based on their abilities, experience and skill levels. Players learn the basics and utilize control, spin, and positioning to their advantage while also being able to consistently rally and cooperate with a partner.

They will develop their ability to maintain proper technique during points and proficiency on serve is a necessity before graduating to the next level.

Use of Orange Balls on 60’ Orange Court. Offered as 1-hour programs.

GREEN BALL (AGES 11-13)

Beginner, Advanced Beginner or Advanced Level

Class size is 6 to 8 players per instructor and grouped based on their abilities, experience, and skill levels.

Players are instructed proper grips and footwork to begin to determine their style of play and how it matches up with other styles. This class will incorporate both singles and doubles strategy and play. At this stage of the development pathway, players may have chosen tennis as a primary sport and preparing to participate in tournaments.

Use of Green Balls on 78’ Green Court. Offered as a 1 hour class with point playing, strength, and conditioning.

YELLOW BALL (AGES 14-17)

Beginner, Advanced Beginner or Advanced Level

Class size is 6 to 8 players per instructor and grouped based on their abilities, experience, and skill levels.

Middle and high school players are instructed proper grips and footwork to begin to determine their style of play and how it matches up with other styles. This class will incorporate both singles and doubles strategy and play. Players are be introduced to Match Plays and Tournaments.

Generally at this age, players have chosen tennis as a primary sport and are actively and regularly participating in tournaments. They will now work on developing techniques in their game and implementing more advanced patterns of play.

Use of Yellow Balls on a 78’ Court. Offered as a 1 hour class with point playing, strength, and conditioning.
